I ate here twice in a three day weekend visit to Devils Lake. Italian meatloaf, a mix of sweet potatoes, and a wonderful unique take on tiramisu for a catered dinner. Crab cake sandwich a few days later that was absolutely wonderful crab cake, but a little too much bun. The chocolate cream cheese cake was very good as well. Definitely worth the visit, wonderful service, a surprisingly great atmosphere, and friendly service.

I've been to Devils Lake for business 4 times, and Kneadful Things is my favorite cozy cafe. The menu is diverse for the area, the food is fresh, and the bakery goods are divine!

Why oh why did I give them another chance?

The bread is good-which is great since they are a bakery. The staff is awful. One in particular is incredibly rude. She was put out when my mom placed an order for bread, which she was told to pick up before 4pm. She did, but surprise, the bread wasn't all ready so mom asked if she could get a different loaf of bread instead. The employee obliged by saying "that's fine but it messes up the total. Only by a quarter." Then when mom pulled out her "frequent buyer" cards the same woman rudely stated, "you should have used these already." Further more, there were garbage bags sitting in the entry way and floors being mopped-no sign and no other way to get to the self-serve drinks. It's great that the restaurant was being cleaned, however; it was during lunch. When our order was brought to the table the employee brought too many plates and needed our help handling them. Helping is great, when you are asked nicely or not made to feel like a burden when you are paying money for a good or service someone is choosing to sell. This employee was also not very understanding of children, neither is the restaurant itself. The kids menu was no where to be found and our group was made to feel like having a 4 year old should be more like wearing an accessory-silent. Needless to say neither myself nor any other member of the group I was with will be returning to a restaurant which we have previously loved. P.s. Would it kill Keadful Things to spruce up or even keep their front lawn area tidy? There was overgrown grass, dying plants, weeds galore, and trash.

I have been here MANY times. They are frequently out of several food items and seem to be out of many ingredients. They are open at their own discretion and are frequently shut with no sign or explanation on the door. Food is good. Front yard is messy and overgrown.

I've eaten here several times and enjoy the freshness and variety of their food. Their soups and fresh bread are a good standby, but because menu changes with the seasons, there is always something new to try. The only complaint I have is that they seem to run out of items on the menu rather often.

I would give it 4 if they were faster and had all the items available on their menu. Good food, bad service

When you are in the Midwest, plan on it being meat-centric and vegephobic. Everything is of the meat persuasion and there are very few options for herbivores. So when we found this place, we were so relieved. They also have many meat options, but they give the vegetarian a fresh breath of air. Everything that is made here is of good quality and with an artisanal flair. Try the breads here. They are good. The kalamata olive loaf is my favorite. They also have excellent desserts. I have a very sore spot for sweets and this place saved me. I had an Asian chicken salad one night and it was decent. Lots of green veggies and not just iceberg lettuce. My only gripe is that the salad was swimming in dressing. I would recommened getting the dressing on the side. The carrot cake is the best I have ever had. Homemade and fresh. The cream cheese frosting will make your eyes roll back in your head. They also make a mean coconut cake. All their desserts are great. If you ever find yourself in Devil's Lake, please give this place a try. They are now open late until 8pm for dinner service.
